Self-Description
My drawings focus on portraiture. I am fascinated by faces, face structure, and how to create different expressions while distorting what a face traditionally looks like. I work from imagination and get inspiration from many places, like the people I see on the street, on the subway, and create my portraits based on the feature that stuck with me the most.

Bio
I began painting on cans in 1993 after going to a show in a Latin club. Each table had shakers made from beer cans filled with rice and I knew I could make better looking ones. For about a year, I painted on cans, bottles and anything else that would hold acrylic paint. When I ran out of ideas, I decided to learn to paint and draw and started taking classes.

From 1994 to 1997, I studied at several schools: Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland; Washington Studio School in Washington, DC; and The Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia. My studies centered around painting in oil and drawing. For several years after that I worked on finding my style and have been refining it since then. In 2003, I participated in a program for women entrepreneurs (“Up and Running”) who wanted to begin a business. From approximately 2003 to 2005, I worked on developing a line of greeting cards featuring my drawings and designs and participated in several local outdoor art fairs. In 2006, I joined Spectrum Gallery in Washington, DC and was a member until the beginning of 2007. During that time I was part of a group show at Strathmore Hall in Maryland and at Spectrum Gallery. In 2008, I joined Gallery West and was part of a group show at the Landon School in Maryland in November 2008. In 2009, I was part of a group show at Gallery West in Alexandria, Va.
