The 11th HourIt is already Monday -- the first issue of Journal 15 is now late. It's late by fifteen minutes, ironically. I swear the universe loves to mess with me when it can. In a few paragraphs I will type the final period of Journal 15 online edition, Vol. 1, No. 1. There will be no confetti shot out of cannons nor any popping of champagne. There will be one deep breath and one final click of a mouse. Then I will allow myself a few hours of sleep before beginning Journal 15 online edition, Vol.1, No.2. I remain excited to do so, in spite of my exhaustion. This week's Featured Editorial, I fear, will suffer due to the amazing amount of effort my staff and I put into the rest of this journal and the site itself. I'm actually quite proud of the fact that of all the sections this is the weakest. My voice dominates this week's issue, and that is neither the intent of this company nor its publications. In fact, it is quite the opposite. The communication with artists over this long and wonderfully arduous week was for the most part positive. They want to get involved. Of all the things that need to happen to make this site a success, that is the most crucial. I couldn't be happier. There exist an ever-growing number of people who want to see what this site will become. Dare I say I'm one of them? Part of this site I feel is already out of my hands. I like that there's an element to it that is both dynamic and maybe a little uncontrollable. I'm going to enjoy watching it grow. The quote from Warhol is there for a reason, maybe two. I'm an impatient person who looks to change things, not wait for them to change. However I am not as rash as I once was. There are some aspects of this company that simply require time's assistance, reputation being one of them. Gaining artists' trust is another. So maybe Warhol doesn't fit my needs this time around. Thank god for Jager then -- "Time is on my side."
